Absconded from The Article UNITY by Joshua P. Ferguson For Timeout Chicago
"If not for a death-defying brush with a semi, Peven Everett might not be headlining the new Friday Night Dance Party this week at Double Door. “I was in a cab coming from a rehearsal at Betty Carter’s house,” says the renowned multi-instrumentalist, who’d declined a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music to pursue a jazz career in NYC. “I get out because the cab driver was overcharging—his meter is flying abnormally fast—and an 18-wheeler comes by, takes the car door off and my trumpet case with it.”
After briefly blacking out, Everett awoke to find his trumpet miraculously in pristine condition. “Something deep in me said, ‘This is not what you want to do,’” the Chicago native says. “It made me come home, spread my head open and see what was there. I found it was something more all-encompassing.” Since then, Everett has launched his label, Studio Confession, releasing dozens of albums in house, soul and jazz."

It's a GREAT day!!
Yes Indeed, it's a new day! Yes indeed! Yes indeed!
'HELLO!'
First, I would like to say 'Hello' to you as I have to admit, I was getting quite concerned as you have not posted any comments for a long while. So I am glad to see that everything is great and still moving. Wonderful!! Wonderful!!
I read the full article in Chicago Time Out magazine and am so proud of you for actively trying to make a difference with the stale music scene, not only through your own music, but through the work you are doing at grass roots level. Just keep on keeping on brother, you dig! If there is anything I can do to help with the struggle, just let me know.
Now, as you know, I am an avid collector of music, and now, really, I mostly buy old music as the new music does no suffice my soul - well, only a handful of current artists are making music that feeds the SOUL. I would like to book a holiday this summer to 'Chicago, Chicago, Chicago, where can I go' by Roy Ayres or the classic 'Windy City' by Carl Davis and the Chi Sound Orchestra or 'Miss Chicago' by Sir Peven Everett (those are the only songs I can think of at the moment with the word Chicago in the title!). I love my Blues (thanks to my Dad!) and House music and I know that Chicago is the 'House that Jack built' - the home of House music. Nuff of my early House records from the Mid 80's have the Chicago print on the labels, so it has always been a place of interest to me. I have always wanted to visit and I think this year would be a good year (I wanted to go to Jamaica again but the fuel taxes and flights are soooooooo expensive compared to last year). We want to check out the clubs and find (if there are any left) record shops. I am not really into the typical tourist attractions so where would you advise me to stay so that I am in close proximity to where it is all happening! We intend to visit during the month of August as I am on school holiday (Yes!), and wish to spend at least 10 nights there. Are 10 nights enough, or not enough time to explore this City or can I do it all in 5 nights? What are the 'must see' places to check out? Also, are you playing at any clubs or do you have an art exhibition, a concert, a hip hop show, a Blues night, an album launch etc being the multi-talented brother that you are, during the month of August? If you are not too busy, please let me know. I know your name isn't 'Travel Guide' or Travel Adviser' but if you have the time as I know that you are extremely busy, if you do have the time, please, please, please, help me because I need it.
Keep on keeping on my brother, you dig!

Hello there,
I have noticed someone is selling 'Party of The Year' LP on ebay! What is this album? I have not seen it before? I am about to place a bid on this item but I would rather buy this on CD or vinyl from yourself. Do you have this album for sale? The item I believe on ebay will end in a day so if I do not hear anything from yourselves, I will buy this album on ebay.
I thank you.
The power of love must overthrow the love of power
Peace always

Good day to one and all,
I am so sorry but I could not wait for your response so I have placed a bid for the named album on ebay. That album is going to be mine yea! No doubt about that! I am not going to let that pass me by. It is new and sealed!! Can't wait to hear the revised version of 'Street Walker' - what a tune! Let you know my thoughts about the album as soon as I receive it. I am going on holiday (couldn't wait for your response - no worries! We are going back to Jamaica - Yeh mon!) in a week's time so I hope I receive it before this time.
To the hardest working man in the business
I wish you a good day.

Hello,
Unfortunately I did place a bid on 'Party of the year' LP on ebay but someone pipped me to the post. So I was on a mission to find this album. I rang Black Market Records and they had the named CD and the 12 inch single of Simmer/Special Timmy Regisford mixes. I ran down there and purchased both products blind. There is never a need to play before you buy because has Sir Peven ever done anything that you can not bank on??!! NO, NEVER!!
So pleased to have got it now. Excellent CD although some tracks I already have on previous albums but that is never a problem for me. 'First choice' and 'Special' and great tracks. 'First choice' is so soothing to the soul. Everytime I play it, it envelopes me within it and simply soothes me from head to toe. Its like a comfort blanket. I always smile when hearing it! Its gorgeous! Simply superb! And 'Special'!!! What can I saw about this track. Definitely a masterpiece. The funk is soooo heavy its unreal. I hope the original is on the 12 inch as this track, I have been waiting to see the original version on a 12 inch. This is a MUST for the clubs. Its seriously heavy. Love the keyboard/organ/bongos riff on the version on 'Dear Europe.' You are just BAD!! When you play, you remind me of the great keyboard player Jimmy Smith!
You've done it again! I am going to go and listen to 'Street Walker' off the album as this track gets to my soul each time I play it. Its Friday night, so I am staying in doors with Sir Peven tonight (I mean playing Peven Everett) with a glass of wine - FANTASTIC NIGHT!!
Sir Peven Everett, I salute you Sir!!
Love is everything,
Madame X
